Major Arcana
The 22 Major Arcana cards describe broad human themes such as beginnings, choice, responsibility, disruption, recovery, and completion. In a reflection, they often widen the frame of the question.
A Major Arcana card does not announce an unavoidable event. Ask which larger theme is active and how it appears in the current facts.
Minor Arcana
The 56 Minor Arcana cards bring the reading closer to daily life. Wands often emphasize initiative, Cups emotion and relationship, Swords thought and conflict, and Pentacles material routines and resources.
Numbered cards show development within a suit, while Pages, Knights, Queens, and Kings can represent a stance, skill, responsibility, or way of responding rather than a literal person.
Upright and reversed cards
Upright orientation may show an energy that is direct or easier to express. Reversed orientation may point to delay, excess, resistance, internal focus, or a need to revisit the card's theme.
Neither direction is automatically positive or negative. Position, neighboring cards, and the question determine which nuance is useful.
Context comes before keywords
Start with the image and your immediate response, then combine the card's traditional range with its spread position. A generic keyword should never override known facts.
Finish by writing one sentence that connects the card to an observable condition and one question that could be checked in real life.
